How a lunchroom or coffee bar uses energy
- Coffee machines. A professional espresso machine keeps its boiler hot all day. If it is also on at night, usage adds up quickly.
- Refrigeration. Display cases, under-counter fridges and a freezer.
- Ovens and toasters. Short but intense usage during the lunch rush.
- Lighting and heating. Often a smaller space, but with lots of glass and a door that opens all the time.
Because a lunchroom is open during the day, almost all usage falls in normal (peak) hours. A low off-peak rate does little for you. The peak rate and the fixed supply charges matter more.
Small business, still savings
With lower usage, the fixed monthly charges make up a relatively large share. Two contracts with the same rate per kWh can still differ noticeably per year. We calculate the total annual cost based on your usage.
Tip: switch the coffee machine off at night or use its eco mode if it has one. That saves straight away, regardless of your contract.
How it works
Fill in the form and we call you at a time that suits you, outside the lunch rush. We look at your current contract and usage, and email you a quote you can read at your own pace. If you agree, we arrange the switch.
