Frequently asked questions about energy for hospitality
Answers to the questions hospitality owners ask us most. Is your question not listed? Ask it in the free consultation.
Do you speak English?
Yes. Fill in the form on our English pages and we will call you back in English.
What does the consultation cost?
Nothing. The call and the comparison are free and without obligation. You are not committed to anything.
Are the prices you mention final?
No. Prices we mention in the call or by email beforehand are indicative and apply at the moment we request them. Energy prices change daily, and for large connections suppliers often work with day prices that are only valid briefly. Only the rates and terms in the supplier's quote and contract are binding.
How do you earn money?
If you decide to switch, we receive a fee from the energy supplier. You pay us nothing. We think it is important to be open about that.
Which energy suppliers do you work with?
We compare offers from more than 20 energy suppliers in the Netherlands, from big names to smaller players. Which one fits best depends on your usage and wishes. We look at that together in the call.
How quickly will you contact me?
On working days we often call back within 10 minutes. If you apply outside office hours, we call you on the next working day. You can also pick a time slot in the form.
What do I need for the call?
Your latest annual statement (jaarafrekening) is the most useful. It shows your usage, your current rates and usually your contract end date. If you have several locations, also the EAN codes per location.
Do I need to cancel my current contract myself?
Usually not. When you switch, the new supplier cancels the old contract. If your current fixed contract is still running, we let the new contract start on the end date, so you avoid an early termination fee.
Will I be without electricity or gas when I switch?
No. The grid operator stays the same and supply simply continues. Only the company that sends you the bill changes.
When is the best time to compare?
Two to three months before your contract ends. That gives you time to choose calmly and prevents your contract from rolling over onto a more expensive rate.
Fixed, variable or dynamic: which is better?
With a fixed rate, the price per kWh and m³ is fixed for the whole term. With a variable rate, the supplier can adjust the price, usually monthly or quarterly. With a dynamic contract you pay the hourly price from the energy exchange. Which fits best depends on your usage and how much certainty you want. We discuss it in the call.
What is the difference between a small and a large connection?
A small-consumption connection (kleinverbruik) is up to and including 3x80 amps for electricity and up to 40 m³ per hour for gas. Anything above that is a large-consumption connection (grootverbruik). Most cafés, restaurants and lunchrooms have a small connection. Larger hotels and chains often have a large one.
I have solar panels. Does that matter?
Yes. Net metering (salderen) ends on 1 January 2027. After that, the supplier's feed-in tariff and any feed-in charges become more important. Mention in the form that you have solar panels and we will take it into account.
Do you work throughout the Netherlands?
Yes. We help hospitality businesses throughout the Netherlands. The consultation takes place by phone, so it does not matter where your business is.
